The Third Logos or Holy Spirit

The Question of Who

Introduction

The following excerpts from V.M Samael Aun Weor come from his book “Tarot and Kabbalah”. I find that they are very effective at giving us a ‘feel’ for who the Third Logos is.

Hail Sacred Swan

"Hail sacred swan! Miraculous Hamsa. Hail Phoenix bird of paradise! Hail immortal Ibis! Dove of the Grail, creative energy of the Third Logos!" - Gnostic Ritual.

Sacred Swan Ham-Sah Third Logos

Sephirotic Crown

“The Sephirotic Crown is formed by Kether, Chokmah and Binah. There is a need to comprehend the foundation of these three Sephiroth:

  1. The Father, First Logos, Kether, Wisdom
  2. The Son, Second Logos, Chokmah, Love
  3. The Holy Spirit, Third Logos, Binah, Power, Igneous Flaming Principle.”

Binah

“Binah is the Holy Spirit; He is the Third Logos, the Lord Shiva of the Hindus, who manifests himself as sexual potency within everything which is, has been, and will be.

The Holy Spirit is the sexual force we see within the pistils of flowers, which expresses itself through the creative organs of all living species. The Holy Spirit is a marvellous force without which the universe could not exist.

The Kabbalists place the distinct Sephiroth of the Hebraic Kabbalah in the worlds. For example, they say that the Ancient of Days is a point from infinite space, and as a symbol, he is eternal. Chokmah is governed by the zodiac, this is true. They say that Binah is governed by Saturn; here we arrive at a point of disagreement. I do not want to say that the Holy Spirit is not governed by Saturn, that there is no relationship between them; indeed, a relationship exists between them. But this is not all, because without a doubt the world of Jupiter is in a certain way related with Binah; this is because Binah, the Holy Spirit, has powers, a throne, and washes the waters of life.

Kether, Chokmah, and Binah, who are the Crown of Life and the resplendent Dragon of Wisdom, emanated from the super-divine atom, from the Ain Soph.

When the cosmic night arrives, the resplendent Dragon of Wisdom will be absorbed within the Ain Soph... Behold here, the trinity being absorbed within the unity! Behold here the Holy Four, the Tetragrammaton of the Kabbalists!

The trinity—the perfect triad, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—plus the unity of life, is the Holy Four, the Four Eternal Carpenters, the Four Horns of the Altar, the Four Winds of the Sea, the holy and mysterious Tetragrammaton, whose mantric word is הוהי Iod, Hei, Vav, Hei, the remarkable name of the Eternal One."

Relationship to the Divine Mother

Introduction

In this excerpt Master Samael explains how the Third Logos is related to the Divine Mother.

Master Samael here says that the Third Logos unfolds Himself into the Divine Mother and he also in other books refers to Her as the spouse of the Third Logos.

Third Logos and the Divine Mother

Third Logos Unfolds Himself into the Divine Mother

“The Holy Spirit unfolds himself into an ineffable woman; She is the Divine Mother; She is dressed in a white tunic and a blue mantle. The Holy Spirit is Shiva, the divine spouse of Shakti, the Divine Mother Kundalini.

This divine woman is an ineffable virgin. This Divine Mother is symbolized among the Aztecs by a mysterious virgin (see Chapter Ten of Aztec Christic Magic). This virgin has in her throat a mysterious mouth; this is because the throat is the uterus where the Word is gestated. The Gods create with the larynx.”

She is the Mother Kundalini. She marries her husband in the pineal gland. The Third Logos, the Holy Spirit, the eternal spouse, is who begets the Divine Mother Kundalini, the root of the Monad, the Mother Space.

The Cosmic Seed Plot, the Matripadma, is the Deva Mater, is Chaotic Matter, Substance Matter, the Raw Matter of the Great Work. She is the Mother Space. The Holy Spirit is the Third Logos who fecundates her, who is latent within the Matripadma. Without him, she remains quiet, and with him, she ignites herself, she reverberates, she swells.”

Third Logos in the Cosmic Sense of Creation

Introduction

In this excerpt Master Samael describes how the Third Logos is at the centre of cosmic creation and therefore at the centre of any creation.

Third Logos and Creation

“The cross also reveals the quadrature of the circle which is the key of perpetual movement. That perpetual movement is only possible through the sexual force of the Third Logos. Perpetual movement will finish and the cosmic unhingement could happen if the energy of the Third Logos would stop flowing in the Universe. The Third Logos organizes the fundamental vortex of every rising Universe, and the infinitesimal vertex of the ulterior atom of any creation.

When life dawned, when the dawn of creation commenced, the First Logos called the Third Logos and he said unto him, "Go and fecundate your spouse in order for existence to begin." He then started to work with the seven Spirits before the Throne, and the army of the Voice. Then the Masonic Rituals were performed and the chaotic matter became fecundated. The Matripadma was fecundated and the universe came into existence. Each one of the seven Cosmocreators emanated from itself the two souls, the feminine Buddhi Soul and masculine Causal Soul, which are symbolized by the constellation of Pisces.

These two souls, husband and wife, practised a transcendental Maithuna. She separated the superior waters from the inferior waters in order for the waters to be fecundated by the fire. They were projecting these waters by means of the Verb. Then, the germs of the Matripadma proliferated, the Matripadma swelled like a lotus flower, and thus fructifying, a Cosmos was born.

It is also the number of the Third Logos that dominates all forms of creation. It is the rhythm of the Creator.”

The Holy Spirit Fecundated the Great Mother

“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made, that was made. In him was life, and the life is the light of men. - John 1:1

The Word made the waters of life fertile and caused the universe in its germinal state to splendidly emerge within the dawn.

The Holy Spirit fecundated the Great Mother, then the Christ, the Second Logos was born. The Christ, the Second Logos, is always the Son of the Virgin Mother.

She is always virginal before childbirth, during childbirth, and after childbirth. She is Isis, Mary, Adonia, Insoberta, Rhea, Cybele, etc.

She is the primitive Chaos, the primordial substance, the raw matter of the Great Work.

The Cosmic Christ is the Army of the Great Word, and He is always born in the worlds, and is crucified in each one of them, in order for all the beings to have life, and to have that life in abundance.

The Holy Spirit is the maker of Light. “And God said, let there be light, and the light was.” The esoteric meaning of this is, “It was, because He said it.””

Third Logos and Mother Earth

Introduction

Here Master Samael explains how an aspect of the Third Logos dwells at the centre of the Earth as the Fohat or special fire or energy that sustains the Earth and constantly renews the Earth. Master Samael says if the energy of the Third Logos were to abandon the Earth, the Earth would soon become a corpse.

Third Logos and Mother Earth

Mother Earth

“The Earth has nine strata, and the laboratorium of the Third Logos is in the ninth one. Indeed, the ninth stratum is in the whole centre of this planetary mass; there we find the Holy Eight, the divine symbol of the infinite, within which the brain, heart, and sex of the planetary Genie are represented.

A sacred serpent is coiled within the heart of the Earth, precisely in the Ninth Sphere. This serpent is septuple in its constitution. Each one of its seven igneous aspects corresponds with each one of the seven serpents of the human being.

The creative energy of the Third Logos elaborates the chemical elements of the earth with all of their multifaceted complexity of forms. When this creative energy leaves the centre of the earth, then our world will be converted into a cadaver. This is how worlds die.

The serpentine fire of the human being emanates from the serpentine fire of the Earth. The terrible serpent sleeps profoundly within its mysterious nest of rare and hollow spheres, really similar to a true Chinese puzzle. These concentric spheres are subtle and astral. Truly, as the earth has nine concentric spheres and as on the bottom of all of them, the terrible serpent abides, in the same way the human being has nine spheres, because the human being is the Microcosmos of the Macrocosmos.”

Third Logos and Atomic Science

Introduction

Here Master Samael says some extraordinary things, saying the Third Logos works with four fundamental elements which are oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and carbon.

He says that it is an electronic force or of the same nature as the electrons and most importantly the energy of the Third Logos expresses itself through our sexual organs and our larynx because these are organs of creation.

Hydrogen, Carbon, Oxygen and Nitrogen

“The human being is a universe in miniature. The infinitely small is analogous to the infinitely great.

Hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen are the four basic elements with which the Third Logos works. The chemical elements are displaced in accordance to their atomic weight. Hydrogen is the lightest, with an atomic weight of 1, and the last one being uranium, with an atomic weight of 238.5, which becomes, as a fact, the heaviest of all the known elements.

Electrons come to constitute a bridge between Spirit and matter. The hydrogen is the most rarefied element that is known; it is the first manifestation of the serpent. Every element, every nourishment, every organism, is synthesized in a determined type of hydrogen. The sexual energy corresponds to Hydrogen 12 and its musical note is SI.

The electronic solar matter is the sacred fire of Kundalini. We enter onto the path of authentic initiation when we liberate this energy.

The energy of the Third Logos is expressed through the sexual organs and through the creative larynx. These are the two instruments through which the powerful energy of the Third Logos flows.

The sacred serpent awakens when one is working with the Arcanum A.Z.F.; the ascending flux of the creative energy of the Third Logos is a living fire. This Pentecostal fire rises up along the medullar canal, opening centres and awakening miraculous powers.”

Third Logos in the Human Being

Introduction

Descending now down into us, Master Samael explains where the Third Logos is in us and what the Third Logos is in us. Master Samael says that the Third Logos in us is our Divine Mother and She is also the Kundalini fire. Note, left side of the brain, sexual organs and larynx.

Third Logos and Understanding

Third Logos in Us

“It would be worthless to renounce sex, without having previously worked and built the solar bodies, reaching the Second Birth. Only thus is this renunciation worthy. In the beginning, there is a need to work with the Third Logos, in the terrible Forge of the Cyclops, then afterwards, to work with the Second Logos, Hercules, and subsequently, with the First Logos. The error of monks and nuns is to renounce sex without having built the solar bodies. Thus, they are found in limbo, dressed with rags. There is a need to dress in wedding attire in order to enter into the kingdom of Heaven.

She is the Mother Kundalini. She marries her husband in the pineal gland. The Third Logos, the Holy Spirit, the eternal spouse, is who begets the Divine Mother Kundalini, the root of the Monad, the Mother Space.

The Holy Spirit is the Third Logos, or Vulcan of Greek mythology. He is the Tibetan- Mahachoan. Kundalini develops, evolves and progresses within the aura of the Mahachoan. Thus, in the pineal gland is where the sacred Tattwa of Shiva Shakti intensely vibrates, meaning where the Divine Mother Kundalini and the Third Logos vibrates,(tattwa is the vibration of the ether).

The crown formed by an aspid, the thermuthis, belongs to Isis, our particular and individual Divine Mother Kundalini. Each one of us has their own Divine Mother within.

The serpent as a feminine Deity within each one of us is the spouse of the Holy Spirit. She is our Virgin Mother crying at the foot of the sexual cross, with her heart pierced by seven daggers.

The Kundalini is the sacred Fire of the Holy Spirit. It is the Pentecostal Fire. It is the igneous serpent of our magical powers.

The Holy Spirit is the Divine Mother in us.”

Experience with the Third Logos

Introduction

This experience we can only assume is one that Master Samael had, tells us that the Third Logos in us the magician of the magician and it is this power within us that heals and performs many magical and prodigious feats.

As a Healer

“BINAH - is the Holy Spirit, igneous power. The following is an example of Binah. A Hierophant was approached by a mentally ill woman, who wished to be healed. The Hierophant succeeded in curing her and asked the woman's relatives for payment for his service. Subsequently, he had a meeting with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit took the form of a white dove. The Hierophant inquired if he was treading well on the path, and the Holy Spirit told him that he was not. "I am the one that heals" said the Holy Spirit.

Because of this experience, the Hierophant decided to return the money. If one has the power to cure and collects payment, the individual commits a very grave crime.”

Ancient Practice with the Third Logos

Introduction

Here Master Samael explains an ancient ritual performed in Ancient Mexico. Here he gives the mantras IN-EN to invoke and put into activity the energies and forces of the Third Logos in us.

Sea Shells Third Logos Practice

Ancient Mexico

“In ancient Mexico, the Holy Spirit was worshipped with a tunic and mantle of white, black, and red colors, within the Temple of the Serpents called Quetzalcoatl. They would sprinkle snail shell powder on embers of fire; for this purpose they utilized white, black, and red snail shells from the sea. White is the pure Spirit, black symbolizes the descent of the Spirit into matter, and the red is the fire of the Holy Spirit, with which we return into the whiteness of the pure Spirit.

The incense would rise into heaven and the priest would pray for life and the plants would flourish because the Holy Spirit is the sexual fire of the universe. This rite was verified in the temple of Quetzalcoatl, before sunrise, because the Holy Spirit is the maker of light. The priest vocalizied the mantras IN EN.

The prophet Jonah also performed the rite of the Holy Spirit, exactly in the same way as the Aztecs, and he used for this purpose the same vestures and the same incense. He also vocalized the mantra In En when he placed the incense into the fire.

This rite must be established in all of the Gnostic sanctuaries. The snail shells are related with the water of the sea, and the water is the habitat of the fire of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the snail shells from the sea become a perfect smoke offering to the Holy Spirit.

The Mother, or Holy Spirit, grants us power and wisdom. The symbols of the Virgin are the yoni, the chalice, and the tunic of occultation.”
